Vodcast#45 - China's Digital Governance goes Local by Jan Kot

You are what you read - Understanding a culture by understanding their #media landscape.

Information and Communication Technology has become the leading force in promoting governance modernization in #China.

It seeks to increase the use of Internet technology as a tool to promote citizen-state interaction and to increase the availability of social services through what is known as "e-government,"

In today’s video, Jan Kot, China Media & Intercultural Coach shares real-life examples of how digital governance is no longer a far-fetched idea in China but a reality for many local governments.

For instance, the case of how a smart camera installed on the ground floor of every building is installed not to prevent crime, as one would expect, but to ensure safety and security for the vulnerable in society.

Watch Jan’s video for more such interesting stories.

Digital governance is increasingly proving to be not just a means to provide greater convenience to citizens and businesses but also a valuable tool for local governments to become more efficient and responsive.
