Diversity and inclusion (D&I) are more than policies, programs, or headcounts.
Equitable employers outpace their competitors by respecting the unique needs, perspectives, and potential of all their team members.
Smart Leaders know a diverse workforce (in age, race, religion, nationality, sexual orientation, and gender) brings diverse viewpoints and perspectives to the company; and can help develop great new products and great new ways to cater to customers.
According to research on company culture, when employees trust that they, and their colleagues, will be treated fairly regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, or age, they are.
9.8 times more likely to look forward to going to work
6.3 times more likely to have pride in their work
5.4 times more likely to want to stay a long time at their company
The benefits of diversity include higher revenue, more innovation, better decision-making, higher rates of job acceptance when you make offers to qualified candidates, and better performance than competitors.
Though the advantages of diversity are well established, difficulties from a managerial and organizational perspective can reduce optimal incorporation. However, these challenges can be easily controlled by the top management using strategic measures.
In this week’s video, Sunaina Vij, interculturalist, linguist, and D&I strategist gives actionable insights on how leaders can bring DEI discussions and actions to their whole organization.
