It’s a Friday evening. You have plans with your friends.

All of a sudden, you received an email from clients, saying - “Urgent Request needed!”, c.c. manager, and manager of your manager.

This situation is not uncommon. In fact, quite common in different industries, particularly the financial sector. You quickly look at the task - urgency & resources needed.

Then you immediately got in touch with your teammates in India & the Philippines. They helped to compile the data. However, given their heavy workload, it means they have to work late for this extra task. Long story short, you managed to complete the task with your team, but you also sacrificed your Friday night.

Are you grateful to your teammates? You may feel it’s their responsibility because they are well paid for it.

For Sheila Cancino, she feels great to have her team. In her eyes, she thinks being grateful builds trust & relationship.

Also, she thinks we should not misuse urgency as it takes .

For situations like this, extending the complement could be done. After all, it’s a long week & managers should recognize their hard work.

Before the episode ends, we would like you to think about your teammates, who are supporting you to complete your work, even if you do not meet them everyday, in the same city. How do you extend your gratitude to your teammates who are physically far away from you?
