John has been working in Chiang Mai for some time. He often gets asked about whether he feels Thais are slow or not as hard-working.

He is from Hong Kong, which is a place that emphasizes efficiency. For him, it depends on the matter of perspective. He has also come across many proactive & responsible workers alongside his work here.

Another factor is related to language barrier. When he didn’t speak the local language, it takes more effort & time for him to explain to workmates.

On the matter of hard-working, Thais enjoy work life balance and have great time management. Because of this, he finds himself happier.

It’s easy to generalize when talking about cultural barriers. But understanding them avoids cultural conflicts.
