In Thailand, there are multiple meanings of “YES”. The country is known as the "nation of smiles".


Most of the time if you need something and request Thai people to do something for you, they will say yes. When they say yes, the first scenario may be - they understand you so they say yes. In the most ideal situation, they give you what you want.


However, sometimes they will also say yes even though they do not understand what you are trying to ask them to do. But they don’t want to disappoint you or embarrass themselves, which makes them say yes. Thus, you may not be able to get what you originally asked for.
